Dogs and Cats Tortured and Murdered for Fur

I Love Animals
I love animals. To me they are gifts from our beneficent maker, they truly can be a part of the family. Growing up we had dogs, but for me cats are easier. They need very little, just food, water, and a maintained "place to do their business" which can be indoor or out, litter box, garden, or even a toilet!
What they give me is always so much more than I can ever give back. So when my son came downstairs and showed me a video he'd found, and asked me to do a hub on it... Well, lets just say, I owe it to them. They cannot protect, defend, or speak for themselves, nor for their kin around the world.
This hub is dedicated then to: Roxy, Binx, and Spaz(Tastic!). All of the cats are named by my daughters, and still living with me and my son, Sean.
As a child of the sixties and a parent in the eighties, the Disney movies I grew up and raised my children with included 101 Dalmations. Who can ever forget the evil Cruella De Vil whose addiction to animal fur has her stealing puppies to make herself a fur coat. We knew instinctively, without the name or the song, that what she was doing was wrong. I was even lucky enough to own the novel, which was better than any of the movies.
We knew, harming animals was wrong. What could possibly make anyone think they could get away with it? They would have to be insane, wouldn't they? And for what gain, or possible purpose would a football player risk his career to "fight dogs" what world is this we've wakened up to?
This is going to get Hard.
Before you go any further, I offer this warning. What you are about to see is not the worst of it. There are videos so much worse that you have to verify your age to even view them. The photo to the right is easily found on google, and the videos which follow are equally easy to find on YouTube, if you know what you are looking for.
What was most appalling, I don't even want to post here, so I offer this link. By clicking this link you are verifying that you are over eighteen, and in so doing will be taken to a page on YouTube where you will agree to have flagged animal cruelty videos shown on your computer. One video even shows how some dogs from a certain island have been used for shark bait.
In another video, the animals are shown, being skinned alive, and still breathing after the skin has been removed. My son thinks they do not know the dog is in pain, or they wouldn't do this.
On March 13th 2007, I was hit by a truck and my leg was crushed between the truck and the lamp head of a light pole. A week later they put me under anesthesia to remove the skin and dead flesh and muscle tissue. When I awoke in the recovery room, they could not give me anything for the pain until all of the anesthesia wore off. I cursed the nurse as she patiently tried to calm me, watching my vitals for the sign that relief could be administered. I cursed her and her offspring thoroughly, although I don't remember the words. I do remember asking her to kill me, let me die. I begged for death. I apologized and praised her after she relieved my pain, and I cried in gratitude that she forgave me, I told her she was an angel from God. I have had three children. Being skinned hurts worse than anything I have ever experienced, even worse than getting hit by the truck. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy, and pain far worse than that is being inflicted on animals. Cats, dogs, raccoons, and even turtles, which are protected in this country.
Again, my son is sure they couldn't possibly know they are causing these animals pain.
The actual video was removed, so here is one featuring Martha Stewart about the fur trade around the world.
Sean wanted You to see This.
When Sean came downstairs and asked if I needed something to write about, I instinctively knew that what he really meant was: "Mom, I found something, and I really want you to write about it."
First he showed me the above video, on his laptop, and then took over both computers. He wanted to title the Hub, and insert videos, and photos. The end result was a compromise. Half of the choices mine, and the other half his.
After making the tough choices, we went into the kitchen to start dinner. He watched more videos and told me, "You know what President Obama would do if he saw those videos?"
"I am sure he has seen them, Sean." I said, tiredly, knowing as I chopped the onions into the sauce pan, I would have no appetite tonight.
"Well if the world leaders, what do they call that?" (The U.N.?) "Yeah, them. If they saw this, they would do something. They must not have seen it."
My naive 15 year old son, he thinks "they" must not know, or "they" would do something about it. It is not up to "them" it is up to us.
I turned and leaned against the counter and said, "Sean, you have to understand. This was put together by PETA. That is an international organization. I am sure that the first thing they did with the information is show it to world leaders, here and abroad."
"Well they couldn't have seen those guys laughing, and kicking the dogs. They couldn't have seen it because they would have done something. They might know that animals are dying, but they couldn't know it was done like this." He is angry. I explain that there are so many bigger fish to fry. The world leaders have so much on their plate, they must pick and choose which issues are most important. This... It didn't make the cut.
He ate, he's in his room watching a movie. He is not happy, but he is handling the news.

What Can You Do?
As usual, I will leave you with the question. What can you do in your little part of the world, wherever you are, to make the slightest difference?
- Don't buy fur, not real fur, nor fake fur. Do not let your children wear it or decorate with it.
- Make a decision, now, whether you will continue to buy goods manufactured in countries that allow this to go on.
- Join PETA. You will learn what countries profit from inhumane treatment of animals.
- Write about it, talk about it. Get on the internet and do research about it. Make it a water cooler discussion at work.
- Don't forget. In general, if it is not on the Daily News, or a front page headline, we forget. Don't forget this is happening to pets, not just strays.

Faybe I am in complete tears this is shocking. I am lost for words :(
People have to do something about this. IT HAS TO STOP!!!
This is a very tough subject. You've written about it extremely well. When I was about 6, my dad put a couple of bullets in my dog's head. I've written about it and what it did to me. But I have found peace over this after 4 decades. However, awareness and education are extremely important to helping to reduce the effects of any problem.
Thanks for shining a bright light on an awful subject and doing it very well.
OMG! I knew there was abuse against animals, but this is frankly f'n insane!!! How can they do this?!. You and Sean did a wonderful job putting this hub together. It left me crying and missing my baby. I am glad that I was able to leave her behind with my mom as she takes extremely good care of her. This must have been a hard thing for you write about because I know how big of a heart you have. Thank you for sharing with us. Hopefully this issue will begin to be resolved sooner rather than later. I couldn't imagine someone doing such things to my cat or someone's dog.
Sheesh! that's brutal, awful and inhuman! This is 100 times worse than cruella deville! Thanks for sharing this sad but true tale, Faybe!
beautiful hub thanks god bless
This was terribly upsetting. I'm so very sorry for the animals. No animal deserves to be treated like this.
This is very disgusting.. killing animals for their fur is an inhuman act and must be stopped.. Watching the videos were very sad.. and thanks for making us know about the fact and creating awareness..
Cruelty to animals ... ugh!!! Good post.
I couldn't watch the videos because I knew they would hurt my heart. My sons are aspies they didn't know how to laugh until we got a minpin named Highway. Highway taught them patience, gentleness, friendship and laughter. Highway was stolen from us 3 times, in the town we lived in, in Oklahoma. The third time his collar was cut from his chain when I put him outside to clean the floors. I couldn't find him. I think I know who took him but no one would ever believe me. Not only were they cruel in taking our dog but it's taken my sons a very long time to learn how to laugh again. I've felt guity ever since for tying him up to the laundry line instead of putting him in the bathroom, or laundry room, but I thought he'd like to be outside better. The boys have just recently started talking about getting another dog but "not yet" because they miss Highway so much.
I couldn't watch the videos, but I have seen similar ones, so I know what's going on. Have you seen the video entitled Earthlings?? I still have nightmares about it. After seeing it, I published a letter in our local paper begging them not to purchase goods from China.
This sort of thing just makes me ill! I feel sure God will deal with these people! I understand someone starving eating a dog or cat for food, but kill it as humanely as possible!!
I have a fake fur vest, but it's made of acrylic. I checked the label before purchase.
I didn't watch the videos - couldn't...
I'm glad you wrote about this, more people need to know what goes on and why.
Well written. I could not watch the video. Its not just the fur people wear its done to the meat we eat.
I am so ashamed to be human, whenever I watch such movies.
Great Hub, really. Your son is nice and compassionate boy.
Thank you.
The only way to help these animals is not to buy furs, any type of furs.
Unfortunately, I know ... humans are radically changing the balance of nature.
For example, today I heard on the radio a discussion on disasters "natural" occurring in these years: are statistically more numerous that some years ago for the global warming, therefore the blame is the humans!
Unfortunately those who want to animal welfare can not be sure that behind their choices there is not cruelty. But this is not an excuse to have not respect to animals!!
thanks for your comment ...
I am a huge animal lover! I believe they have rights to live wonderful lives free of torture. This was a very good Hub! You spread the word on a very important issue. No animal should be used or fur, it is just cruel. It's great to see a fellow animal lover writing about a very important issue!
Ha! I'm not even going to attempt to watch these videos! I know they'll haunt me for the rest of my life if I do. (I could hardly look at the preview pictures!) I'll just read the article instead.
Thank you for bringing attention to the horrendous crimes against companion animals in China. There are still a lot of people who aren't aware of this. And to the people that recorded these videos, you are the strongest people in the world. I would never be able to go undercover for PETA without crying my eyes out afterwards.

Those videos made me cry Oh my god! I did not know what China did, how cruel and inhumane. I could not imagine someone harming our dogs, I would be so angry! Animals are a man's best friend and if someone cannot take care of them, then find them a good, loving home. When I lookout the window at our dogs I could not imagine that someone could be so cruel. We are so blessed to have them as our pets and just like I told my husband, we have them for a reason. "To Love them, Hug them, squeeze them" and miss them when they are old and gone.
I am going to start a thread because of this hub other hubbers need to read this and I hope that it will touch the heart.
