Songs that Should Never be Forgotten

 My favorite quote, or poem, or work of art, by Joe Miller. Whatever you want to call it, it is a statement that I believe should be posted everywhere for everyone to read. Feel free to copy it and paste it every where you can. 

I posted it on my Facebook page and I want to write about  it here, but at Hub Pages we are supposed to use all original content, no matter how brilliant the content we would like to share is. No matter how important the message.

Throughout history, there were songs that moved us, moved a generation, and were covered over and over. Each time the same song was covered it climbed the charts, because it was a song that should not be forgotten. A song with a message. That's what this hub is about, and I hope you will all join me and add any you can think of that I may have missed. The Comments section is for you to help me, by reminding me of any that I may have forgotten.

Hub Pages own, SilverGenes, a real beauty and a throw back to a sweeter softer time, befriended me on Face Book. We have been sharing our pet causes with each other.

I am sure, those of you here that know me, also know that I have a big problem with the state of the world as far as animal cruelty and Child abuse go, Human Trafficking is a problem I would like to see blotted out, I have written several hubs about this blight on humanity. I have raged and cried and tried to shake you up.

As they say, you can catch more flies with honey, I have been brought into light of this fact...

If, as a whole, the entire world, decided to be kind, realized that we are all brothers and sisters, well, you wouldn't sell or abuse or be cruel to your sister... You wouldn't let anyone else be cruel or abusive to your sister...

So, when Silver Genes sent me a cause on Facebook that said to "Bring back the Hippie Movement" we started talking about that. I brought up the first song and then... Well here we are.

To go over history would only make people argue, as we all remember history differently. I will just recap, from what I remember, from my point of view.

See, I was born in 1961. The British Invasion, the Ban of Elvis' hips on television, and the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Robert Kennedy are not in my memory banks. I was too young, and people did not tell the small children.

I do remember when The Beatles broke up, book burnings, record album bans... I do remember being told that the peace symbol was a Satanic symbol, that listening to Rock and Roll would only lead to drug abuse and sexual promiscuity... They blamed Rock and Roll for Heroine and Marijuana...

In all actuality, if you do the research, the music had little to do with the drugs. The drugs got brought in from over seas because of all the wars we got involved in... But I won't get political here. I guess someone else can write that hub about how our nation was so afraid of segregated groups joining together and gaining power, and starting a revolution, that they infiltrated poor neighborhoods, and "deposited" drugs among those who were most likely to become addicted. That was what was claimed in the movie Panther circa 1995, based on a book about the Black Panther movement.

I read the book, and others written by people in the know of that time, stories that would curl your hair... Hard to believe what our government was capable of. People get upset when I say that George W Bush did a lot wrong in office, threatened me on 9/11 that what I was saying about him could get me put in jail.. My reply was this "If I just woke up in a country where questioning the motives of my elected leaders is a crime, then put me in jail now. I don't want this fake freedom."

I grew up knowing the cruelty people are capable of. And when a group of people protested for peace they were killed. (See the Kent State Shootings)

I know we are not supposed to publish any unfinished hubs, but perhaps you all will help me here. See I have made myself cry, and I can't type anymore.

Is it too late for us, aren't we all brothers and sisters? Really?

I don't mean to ask you to leave this hub, but really I don't know how to get this video and put it in my hub. So please go and watch this video by Ashton Kutcher. It's about Human Trafficking and that there are people in our country and all over the world, just stealing and selling our children and grandchildren! It's insane! What kind of world is this, when people will buy a child and have sex with that child?

You can join that cause and vote for it. You can support the D&A Foundation which was started by Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher on January 25th of this year. Please, take a stand. Stand up for what we once all believed in, we are all brothers and sisters. Don't let anyone steal, sell, and abuse our children...

So, about those songs...

Silver Genes and I were talking about how whole communities have joined together in recent years, to read the same book, well we want the radio stations to join together to play the same song.

I think that if enough people listened to these songs, especially the first one, Get Together, and this last one Beautiful Slave, that something would change... I mean it's worth a try, right?

We are Brothers and Sisters, all of us, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or any other thing you can think of as a box to put us into to divide us. We need to remember that, right now.
