What You Can Do About :: Human Trafficking :: The Reality Behind the Movie "Taken"

 I know that is a silly question but humor me, glance at the clock, it is ticking.

Write down the time if you might forget it is important to your understanding of this issue, and your actions that follow. Now go ahead and read, watch the short videos, and be sure to add  your username to the comments section, even if you do not comment.

In the movie "Taken" a man loses his daughter to the black market slavery trade, known now as Human Trafficking. He is a man with "a particular set of skills" he says in the movie. Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors. Think though about that phrase.

We all have a particular set of skills. No we cannot jetset around the world and break up the black market. We are not in a Hollywood movie. But we are not helpless either. I will be adding to this Hub as ideas come and in the comments section I expect you to add too. Add your hub on the subject if you have one and if you don't, find one and add it here. Check Human Trafficking in the search at the top of the page. This is the least we can do. Read one, find one that has merit in your eyes and rate it up and add it in my comments section.

We are not helpless. I have a particular set of skills too. I am a writer and hopefully a good enough one to get some attention. But you, who have been around longer than I have, you who have blogs and websites, you have a power that I do not have. You command attention. Get the message out, for me, as I am weaker than you in technology.

You may not have money to give, I don't either. That did not prevent me from joining the fight. I checked it out on Snopes.com and you should check ,before you donate any money, to make sure it is not a scam. Just put in the website or organisation name on google search along with the word scam to find out, before you donate. I cannot stress that enough.

Now maybe you are on twitter or facebook, tell all of your friends. If you know how to stumble ir digg, please do.

Next, when you go to work or church or the gym... Wherever you go, tell someone.

If you have a printer make fliers with the facts from the organisations who are striving to fix the problem.

You are writers. The pen is mightier than the sword. Write letters to your local and state agencies, write to your representatives and senators and governors and mayors. They work for you! You helped them get elected! Flood their mailboxes with your outrage and ask what is being done in your community, in your state.

Get involved. Pick a group and have a fundraiser, block party,or neighborhood yard sale. Get educated on the subject, then educate others, too.

Knock on a neighbors door that you have not met. Become friends. Tell them I sent you and ask them to find a neighbor they do not know and do the same.

When they ask you who I am, say some girl on line who has this dream of us all working together to make the world a better place. She says it starts here, with you and me. The problems are right in our back yard and only together can we fix that.

 Truly the question of the millenium. I believe we are here to leave the world a better place than it was when we got here. I am trying to do my part.

In stead of asking why God would allow this to happen we should be saying, Who am I not to make the effort to stop it. I leave you with only two videos today. Chosen carefully to try very hard to convey the message.

When you ask the question, "Who Am I?" Let your answer be, I am the one determined to make a difference.
